I was on my way to work, planning to work the second shift, when all of a sudden, a cloud of black smoke was beaming out of my car. I didn’t have a clue of what was going on, so I pulled over on the shoulder of the interstate.
I sat there for quite a while and when looked up, this man who was on the opposite side of the highway was crossing over to where me and my P.O.S. were. The guy was nice, asking me what had happened because he saw black smoke coming from my car and from what he had seen, it looks as though I had blown the engine in my vehicle. Of course…That’s just what I needed.
He suggested if this was the case, I would need to contact someone who sold used engines or replace it with a new engine and wondered if there was anything he could do. Like call someone to tow my vehicle. Now incredibly late for work, I gave him my phone number and a message to relay to the towing service. I really do need to get a cell phone, but looking confused and helpless on the side of the highway does get you the use of someone’s phone pretty quickly.
As I sat waiting for the tow truck and so late for work that I wondered if I should even bother going in, the tow truck finally arrived. Quick and timely like they always are…just an hour and forty five minutes. GRRRRRR!
The tow truck driver looked at my car and said I had thrown a rod in the engine and he’d tow my vehicle and give me a ride to where I needed to go. Away we went, he took me to work and towed my car to the garage that I asked. After I got to work, I called the garage to make sure the vehicle had arrived safely and the mechanic at the garage said he’d already taken a look and that I had blown an engine.
Guess I know what I’ll be doing when I get off work..calling around and getting prices on used engines. Oh the Joy.
